Sodium Bisulphate - 25 Kg Bag

SODBISFG-25
CAS: 7681-38-1

Sodium bisulfate (often sold as SBS Pet) is a dry, granular, acidifying food additive used in pet food.

What It Does in Pet Food

  • Urine Acidification (Cats): It lowers and stabilizes feline urine pH (typically to 6.0–6.5) to help prevent or dissolve struvite bladder stones and reduce lower urinary tract disease. [1, 2, 3]
  • Water Consumption: It encourages cats to drink more water, which flushes the urinary tract.
  • Preservation & Safety: It lowers pH to control microbial growth (such as Salmonella) and stabilizes soft treats and liquid digests.
  • Palatability: It imparts a sour flavor profile that cats generally find appealing without throwing off the food's calcium-to-phosphorus ratio (unlike phosphoric acid)

Sodium bisulfate (NaHSO₄) is an acidic food additive used as a leavening agent, pH adjuster, and browning inhibitor.

What It Does in Food

  • Leavening Agent: Helps cake mixes rise by reacting with bases to produce carbon dioxide.
  • pH Control & Acidulant: Lowers and maintains acidity in beverages, dressings, sauces, and fillings without being overly harsh.
  • Browning Prevention: Stops fresh-cut fruits and vegetables from turning brown.
  • Meat & Poultry Processing: Used during handling and processing applications
