Monoethanolamine (MEA) is a colorless, hygroscopic and moderately viscose liquid with a mild ammoniacal odor. It is used as a chemical intermediate in the manufacture of cosmetics, surface active agents, emulsifiers, plasticizing agents, rubber vulcanization accelerators, wood preservation, antibiotics and pharmaceuticals. MEA also acts as a gas-scrubbing agent for absorption and removal of CO2 and H2S. Recommended Use: Gas treating. Chemical intermediate. Metal complexing agent. Fuel additive. Plastics additive. Wood preservative.
